1. The turquoise water
The famed turquoise waters on the Greek Islands are truly wonderful to behold! The only downside is that it’s hard for other beaches to stack up in comparison.
2. The white washed buildings
One could spend all day wandering around Santorini or Mykonos marvelling at the stark white architecture. Paired with lots of rich cobalt blue, the result is something truly memorable!
3. The ancient history
If you’re keen for a hit of ancient history, Greece is most definitely the destination for you. Athens is bursting at the scenes with remnants from an almost fantastical time of gods and men. We recommend leaving ample time to explore this impressive city.
4. The Greek salad
You may think you know the humble Greek salad well but truthfully, you haven’t really tried it until you’ve enjoyed it in Greece!
5. The ouzo
It may not be everyone’s cup of tea but sampling the local ouzo in Greece is an absolute must. We love how this clear liquid turns white when ice or water are added!
6. The seafood
Predictably the Greek Islands are a phenomenal place to enjoy your favourite seafood dishes. It’ll change the way you feel about calamari forever!
7. The sunsets
True, there are many beautiful places in the world to experience a wondrous sunset, but Greece is something else!
8. The stunning beaches
When it comes to beach getaways, Greece is the perfect destination! With beaches ranging from white sand and crystal waters, to pebbles and the famous red beach in Santorini, there is something for every taste!
9. The colourful traditions
Greece has some absolutely magnificent traditions to behold. One of our favourites is having colourfully clad donkeys ferry luggage up and down the cliffs of Santorini.
10. The thrills to be had
If you are a bit of a thrill seeker, there is certainly lots to do in Greece! The soaring cliffs are perfect for leaping off. If this is less your scene, it’s always fun to spectate!
11. The views
We’re pretty sure views don’t get much better than looking out across the dazzling blue waters in Greece!
12. The gyros
This cheap snack is totally addictive! Soft pita, crispy gyro meat and a few french fries to boot, this is one of our favourite guilty pleasures. With gyro stands littering the streets, you’ll be tempted at every turn.
13. The sprawling blooms
It seems that everywhere you look in Mykonos there are beautiful flowers dappling the streets. We love how vibrantly the colour stands out against the white buildings!
14. The infinity pools
If you’re anything like us, you’re constantly seeing envy invoking pictures of friends and family members enjoying their Greek vacations by the infinity pool! We think it’s time to turn the tables and be the ones by the pool, for a change!
15. The cobbled alleys
The cobbled alleyways of the Greek Islands make these small cities a pleasure to get lost in! We recommend setting aside a day to simply wander around taking in this gorgeous scenery.
